In advanced cases, this symptom ends up affecting 80% to 90% of patients. <strong>Weight loss in cancer is considered serious<\/strong>because it is also associated with loss of muscle mass and functional status.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are studies showing that <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/7955924_Dronabinol_and_marijuana_in_HIV_marijuana_smokers_Acute_effects_on_caloric_intake_and_mood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span>Medical Cannabis<\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> and <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/7730690\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span>its derivatives<\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> have the potential to stimulate appetite in adults with HIV\/AIDS. <\/span><span style=\"color: #2ecc71;\">R<\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/21343383\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span>esearches<\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span style=\"color: #2ecc71;\">s<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> comparing dronabinol (a synthetic version of THC) to placebo also suggests that the cannabinoid derivative is more effective in fighting anorexia in patients with cancer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Check out the studies:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/7955924_Dronabinol_and_marijuana_in_HIV_marijuana_smokers_Acute_effects_on_caloric_intake_and_mood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><strong>Dronabinol and marijuana in HIV+ marijuana smokers: acute effects on caloric intake and mood<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/7730690\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><strong>Dronabinol as a treatment for anorexia associated with weight loss in patients with AIDS<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/21343383\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><strong>Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol may palliate altered chemosensory perception in cancer patients: results of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span><span><span><strong>Adjuvant in chronic pain<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A report from the <em>National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and <\/em><em>Medicine (NASEM), <\/em>which represents a national collective scientific academy for the United States, supports the finding that adults with chronic pain treated with cannabinoid derivatives are more likely to have their<strong> pain symptoms reduced.<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>> Read at <\/strong><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nap.edu\/resource\/24625\/Cannabis_committee_conclusions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><strong>The health effects of cannabis and cannabinoids: the current state of evidence and recommendations for research.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Generally, <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/31161270\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span>it is recommended<\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> that when treating patients who have developed <strong>chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy,<\/strong> a Cannabis-based drug is prescribed in refractory situations to the use of other drugs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another very important point is that <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wecann.academy\/en\/reducao-no-uso-de-opioides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><strong>medicinal Cannabis shows synergy of action with opioids<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, often prescribed to control cancer pain. Most patients with chronic pain, who regularly make use of opioids and start treatment with medicinal cannabis<span>, manage to prevent the development of tolerance to opioids and, consequently, avoid the need for increased dosage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.999999999999998pt;\"><span><strong>Adjuvant for insomnia and mood disorders<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The same NASEM report also highlights evidence that <strong>cannabinoids improve sleep pattern <\/strong>of individuals with sleep disorders related to chronic pain, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is common for cancer patients to report difficulty sleeping.
